Multiple Coaches Northern Virginia Rowing Club (NVRC) is in the process of recruiting multiple coaches for its Juniors and/or Masters Summer/Fall (June-November) programs (row4nvrc.com).
Coaches will be responsible for assisting in the development of the men’s/women’s novice/intermediate/competitive juniors/masters teams. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing fitness development, technical training and race preparation to rowers and coxswains.
- Assisting with coordination of race logistics.
- Evaluating individual rowers for fitness, technique, and race readiness.
- Assisting with recruiting new members which may include assisting with teaching a Learn to Row class.
- Other activities on an as needed basis as determined by the Director of Rowing or the Club Management.
Qualified candidates must have some coaching experience and collegiate/masters rowing/coxing experience for multiple years.
Candidates must have CPR/First Aid certification and have their own health insurance. Candidates should be willing to obtain a US Rowing coaching certification and/or boating safety certification if they do not already have one.
NVRC’s rowers practice out of the Sandy Run Boathouse with a squad of approximately 60 masters and 150 juniors. In 2012 NVRC’s competitive rowers won in the following Masters events:
- Occoquan Masters Sprints: First place in Men’s 4+, Men’s 8, Mixed 8
- US Rowing Masters National Championships (Worcester, MA) – Mixed E 8+ first place
- US Rowing Masters National Head Race Championships (Cleveland, OH) – Mixed 8 – first place
- US Rowing Masters National Head Race Championships (Cleveland, OH) – Men’s 8 – second place
- Occoquan Challenge – Men’s 8 – first place; Mixed 8 – second place
- Occoquan Chase – Men’s 8 – first place
- Head of the Occoquan – Men’s 8 – first place; Mixed 8 – first place
Junior events:
- US Rowing Club Nationals Silver Medal - Women's Junior Pair
- US Rowing Club Nationals Silver & Bronze Medals - Women's Junior Pair
- Occoquan Challenge Champions - Women's Youth 8
- Occoquan Challenge Champions – Men's Youth 8
- Head of the Charles - Women's Youth 8: 17th place (out of 85)
